Till I’m party President, Rumi Nath won’t get even membership of BJP, asserts Ranjit Dass

Nov. 21: Things does not seem to go too well for former Borkhola MLA Dr. Rumi Nath. She was recently suspended by the Congress for anti-party activities. Since then, she was desperately striving to join Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and get the party ticket from Borkhola once again. However, all her hopes were nipped in the bud.

On Saturday, while speaking with journalists in Guwahati, BJP State President, Ranjit Das categorically stated that, “Forget about getting party ticket for contesting forthcoming assembly elections; Till I am the President of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Rumi Nath will not even be given the primary membership of the party.”

This candid expression by the State BJP President is indeed a bolt from the blue for Dr. Rumi Nath who was striving since last few months to shift her allegiance to BJP. Infact, She started her political career with BJP, but then she crossed over to the Congress. However, of late, she again became inclined towards BJP for which Congress ultimately expelled her. It was since then, she tried to project herself as a practicing ‘Hindu’ in social media in the hope of appeasing the BJP. But the strong statement from Party President Ranjit Dass has shattered her hopes of joining BJP and get party ticket from Borkhola constituency in Cachar.

Though it is very difficult to say any last word in politics, but at present all doors seemed to be shut before Dr. Rumi Nath. The Congress has thrown her out and the BJP has shut the door for her. Will she then join AIUDF or any other parties like TMC? Will she contest the forthcoming polls as an independent candidate from Borkhola? Well, these are all speculations and only time can say about the future of the political career of Dr. Rumi Nath.
