Three Naga militants arrested at Lakhipur

লক্ষীপুরে পুলিশি অভিযানে ৩ নাগা জঙ্গি ধরা পড়েছে। তাদের কাছ থেকে দুটি কার্তুজ ও তিনটি মোবাইল সেট বাজেয়াপ্ত করা হয়েছে।

পুলিশ জানিয়েছে, ধৃতরা হল—নামসুরেই গাংমাই (১৮), গানথৌলাং রংমাই (১৯) ও লুনকুমগাম রংমাই (৩০)। তিনজনেরই বাড়ি জিরিঘাট এলাকায়। এরা এনএসসিএন-খাপলাঙ গোষ্ঠীর ক্যাডার। মোট ৪জন এসে ঘাঁটি গেড়েছিল লক্ষ্মীপুর মহকুমার নামদাইলং গ্রামে। গোয়েন্দা সূত্রে খবর পেয়ে কাল রাতে তাদের ঘিরে ফেললে এক জঙ্গি পালিয়ে যায়। ৩জনকে গ্রেফতার করা হয়। ধৃত জঙ্গিরা প্রথমে জঙ্গিযোগের কথা

অস্বীকার করে। পরে মোবাইল ঘেঁটে তাদের অস্ত্র প্রশিক্ষণের ছবি মেলে।তারাই তখন জানায়, পুলিশ দেখে পালিয়ে যাওয়া যুবকের কাছে পিস্তল রয়েছে। বাজেয়াপ্ত কার্তুজদুটি ওই পিস্তলেরই। পুলিশ আশাবাদী, শীঘ্র তাকে গ্রেফতার করে পিস্তল বাজেয়াপ্ত করা যাবে।

Three Naga militants were nabbed during a police raid at Lakhipur. Two cartridges and three mobile sets have been recovered from them. Those arrested were Namsurei Gangmei (28), Gunthoulang Rongmei (19) and Lunkumgam Rongmei (30). All three of them are residents of Jirighat. A total of 4 persons set up a camp at Namdailang village in Lakhipur.

On the basis of secret information, police forces surrounded the hide out of the militants yesterday night. Taking advantage of the dark, one militant escaped while the remaining 3 were arrested by the police. During interrogation, the trio first refused their involvement in militancy. However, police later on found pictures of arms training from their mobiles. It was then that they accepted their involvement and said that the boy who escaped had pistol with him. The 2 cartridges recovered from them were of that pistol. Police team investigating the matter is hopeful that they would be able to nab the escaped militant very soon.
