Three-day upskilling programme for cooperative staff concludes in Cachar

way2barak, August 1: Office of the District Deputy Registrar of Cooperative Societies (DRCS), Cachar, successfully conducted a three-day intensive training programme for officials from Cachar and Hailakandi districts. The programme, held from July 28 to 30 at Barak Hindi Sahitya Samiti, Silchar, was designed to boost both technical competency and regulatory understanding among the cooperative workforce.
Inaugurated by Dr. N Ahmed, District Deputy Registrar, the training session witnessed the active participation of over 50 staff members, including inspectors and office assistants. Dr. Ahmed, in his inaugural address, underlined the indispensable role played by these officials in promoting transparency, accountability, and effective functioning of cooperative institutions. He stressed the importance of continuous capacity-building in keeping pace with emerging challenges and evolving governance norms.
The training curriculum covered a wide spectrum of essential topics including Fundamental Rules (FR), Supplementary Rules (SR), Assam Cooperative Laws, digital auditing methodologies, cooperative society registration and deregistration procedures, and various flagship schemes of the Central Government aimed at rural empowerment. In addition, technical sessions delved into key administrative domains such as budgeting, accounting systems, pay fixation processes, and the Civil Service Conduct Rules, offering participants a comprehensive exposure to both operational and regulatory aspects.
Interactive sessions were conducted by eminent resource persons, including expert trainers from the District Administration, officers from the State Cooperative Department, and officials from NABARD. These sessions not only provided updates on amendments to the Cooperative Societies Act but also offered practical insights into challenges encountered during field inspections. The presence of the District Development Managers (DDMs) of NABARD for Cachar and Hailakandi districts further enriched the proceedings, as they shared valuable inputs on the developmental roadmap and cooperative-centric schemes being implemented across the region.
Participants lauded the initiative, calling it timely and transformative. They expressed their gratitude to the organising team for fostering a platform that encourages knowledge sharing, capacity development, and inter-district cooperation.
The event concluded with a valedictory session where certificates of participation were handed over, marking the successful culmination of an enriching learning experience that promises to uplift the standards of service delivery in the cooperative sector of Barak Valley.
