Three-day training program for Re-SVAYEM gets underway in Hailakandi
Feb.8: A three-day training programme for the Redesigned Swami Vivekananda Assam Youth Empowerment (Re-SVAYEM) beneficiaries got under way here on Monday. In the first phase, altogether 350 numbers of beneficiaries will undergo the training programme. The training will continue batch-wise till February 18. Selected beneficiaries will be called through SMS.
Inaugurating the training session, District Development Commissioner, Ranajeet Kumar Laskar said the candidates have been selected after proper scrutiny of the documents and after they fulfilled all the criteria laid down for selection. He said the selected candidates will undergo training in the avocations they have chosen so that the skills honed would help them to set up enterprises that would not only make them self employed but also make them economically vibrant and resilient.
Laskar appreciated the fact that though the minimum qualification for availing the scheme is HSLC passed, many graduates have come forward and that augurs well. He said applicants who have had already availed government schemes were not selected. Wishing the selected beneficiaries a bright and rosy future, Laskar urged them to work with diligence and sincerity to forge ahead in life.
Under the Re-SVAYEM scheme, self-help groups (SHGs) comprising five to 10 members are formed so that they can engage in different livelihood generation activities. The state government provides Rs 2.5 lakh to a five-member SHG and Rs 5 lakh to over five-member SHG so that they can start a business venture. In the initial stage, the state government will provide Rs 30,000 to each of the 2 lakh beneficiaries. The beneficiaries will have to undergo a three-day training programme, after which another Rs 20,000 will be credited into their bank accounts.
