Those entering Assam from other states will be put under 14 days strict quarantine

School, Colleges to be Used as Quarantine Centers

May 12: Those who will be coming to Assam from other states by train, bus or vehicles will be sent for compulsory and strict institutional quarantine facility. People coming back to Assam should make up their mind to stay under quarantine, once they reach Assam. This was said by State Health Minister, Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma on Tuesday.

The minister further said that as large number of people will be entering in Assam, so everybody could not be kept in hotels. They will be now quarantined in schools, colleges, anganwadi centres etc. So the people before starting their journey to Assam should be mentally prepared to stay in such make shift quarantine centres.

Further, Himanta Biswa Sarma informed that, only those who would be symptomatic during the 14 days quarantine will be tested and necessary treatment will be given. But those who will be asymptomatic will not be tested. This, he stated, is in conformity with the decision of the Union government.

He also stated that from now onwards, when any person will be referred for home quarantine, then his/her entire house (including all family members) will be quarantined. The same rules will be applicable for those residing in flats. In such cases, the entire family of flat will be quarantined. The flat committee will have to provide essential commodities to that family, of course on payment basis.

But the minister also categorically stated that those persons coming to Assam from red zones will be also kept for strict quarantine. When such persons will be sent for home quarantine, then that home will be declared as a containment zone.
