The three-day convocation of Assam University begins
শুরু হলো আসাম বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের তিন দিনব্যাপী সমাবর্তন

ওয়ে টু বরাক, ১৯ জানুয়ারি : সোমবার থেকে শুরু হলো আসাম বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের ২৩তম সমাবর্তন। প্রথম দিন ডিলিট, পিএইচডি, এমফিল ও স্নাতকোত্তর স্তরের ডিগ্রির শংসাপত্র সহ বিভিন্ন বিষয়ের স্বর্ণপদক প্রদান করা হয়। এছাড়াও স্ব-স্ব ক্ষেত্রে উল্লেখযোগ্য অবদানের জন্য মহীন্দ্র গ্রুপের চেয়ারম্যান আনন্দ গোপাল মহীন্দ্র ও আসাম পুলিশের ইন্সপেক্টর জেনারেল পার্থসারথি মহন্তকে সাম্মানিক ডিলিট ডিগ্রি প্রদান করা হয়।

আচার্য তথা বায়ূসেনার অবসরপ্রাপ্ত চিফ এয়ার মার্শাল অরূপ রাহার পৌরোহিত্যে আয়োজিত অনুষ্ঠানে প্রধান অতিথি হিসেবে উপস্থিত ছিলেন বেলুড় মঠের রামকৃষ্ণ মিশন বিবেকানন্দ এডুকেশনাল অ্যান্ড রিসার্চ ইনস্টিটিউটের প্রো–চ্যান্সেলর স্বামী আত্মপ্রিয়নন্দজি। বক্তব্য রাখতে গিয়ে স্বামী আত্মপ্রিয়নন্দজি, ‘সর্বভূতে হিতে রতঃ’ দর্শনকে গুরুত্ব দেন। তিনি বলেন, প্রকৃত মানুষ হতে হলে নিজের স্বার্থের ঊর্ধ্বে উঠে উদ্ভিদ, প্রাণী ও সমগ্র পরিবেশের প্রতি দায়িত্বশীল হতে হবে। তিনি ডিপ ইকোলজির ধারণার কথা উল্লেখ করে বলেন, মানুষ প্রকৃতিকে শাসন করার জন্য জন্মায়নি; বরং মানুষ এই বৃহত্তর পরিবেশ ব্যবস্থার একজন অংশগ্রহণকারী মাত্র।

বক্তব্য রাখতে গিয়ে উপাচার্য অধ্যাপক রাজীব মোহন পন্থ শিক্ষার্থীদের ভবিষ্যতের নৈতিক দিশা নির্ধারণে সমাজের কাছ থেকে পাওয়া অবদানগুলো স্মরণ করার পরামর্শ দেন। এদিন অন্যদের মধ্যে মঞ্চে উপস্থিত ছিলেন সহ-উপাচার্য অধ্যাপক শিবাশিস বিশ্বাস, নিবন্ধক প্রদোষ কিরণ নাথ, পরীক্ষা নিয়ন্ত্রক সুপ্রবীর দত্তরায় সহ বিভিন্ন স্কুলের ডিনরা।

সমাবর্তনের সূচনার প্রাক্কালে পারফর্মিং আর্টস ও গণজ্ঞাপন বিভাগের যৌথ প্রযোজনায় দু’টি সঙ্গীত ভিডিও ‘বন্দে মাতরম’ ও রবীন্দ্রনাথ ঠাকুরের ‘একলা চলো রে’ পরিবেশিত হয়। সংগীত পরিচালনায় ছিলেন ড. জগন্নাথ বর্মন এবং ভিডিও পরিচালনায় অধ্যাপক আলফরিদ হুসেন। প্রসঙ্গত, এই সমাবর্তন চলবে আগামী বুধবার পর্যন্ত। এবার সবমিলিয়ে মোট ১৩৬৬৬ জনকে আনুষ্ঠানিক ডিগ্রি প্রদান করা হচ্ছে।

Way2barak, January 19 : The 23rd convocation of Assam University began on Monday. On the first day, certificates and gold medals in various disciplines were awarded, including degrees at the D.Litt., PhD, MPhil, and postgraduate levels. In addition, honorary D.Litt. degrees were conferred on Mahindra Group Chairman Anand Gopal Mahindra and Assam Police Inspector General Parthasarathi Mahanta in recognition of their outstanding contributions in their respective fields.

The ceremony, presided over by the Chancellor and former Chief of the Indian Air Force, Air Chief Marshal (Retd.) Arup Raha, was graced by the Pro-Chancellor of the Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda Educational and Research Institute, Belur Math, Swami Atmapriyanandaji, as the chief guest. In his address, Swami

Atmapriyanandaji emphasized the philosophy of “Sarvabhute Hite Ratah” (working for the welfare of all beings). He said that to become a true human being, one must rise above self-interest and be responsible toward plants, animals, and the entire environment. Referring to the concept of deep ecology, he remarked that human beings were not born to dominate nature; rather, they are merely participants in a larger environmental system.

Addressing the gathering, Vice-Chancellor Prof Rajive Mohan Pant advised students to remember the contributions they have received from society while shaping their ethical direction for the future. Others present on the dais included Pro-Vice-Chancellor Prof. Shivasish Biswas, Registrar Pradosh Kiran Nath, Controller of Examinations Suprabir Duttaroy, and the deans of various schools.

Ahead of the formal commencement of the convocation, two music videos—“Vande Mataram” and Rabindranath Tagore’s “Ekla Cholo Re”—were presented as a joint production of the Departments of Performing Arts and Mass Communication. The music was directed by Dr. Jagannath Barman, while the videos were directed by Prof. Alfarid Hussain. Notably, the convocation will continue until Wednesday. This year, a total of 13,666 candidates are being formally awarded degrees.
