The more TMC supremo Mamata Banerjee visits Assam & Tripura, the more it will benefit BJP, says Assam CM
Aug. 30: At a time the All India Trinamool Congress (TMC) is trying to make in-roads in the Northeast, NEDA Convenor and Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma made a sarcastic comment on his West Bengal counterpart and TMC supremo Mamata Banerjee. Dr Sarma on Sunday commented that the visits of Mamata Banerjee to Assam and BJP will infact be beneficial for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
“The more she (Mamata Banerjee) visits Assam & Tripura, the more it’ll benefit us. I’ll welcome her by rolling out a red carpet. Polls in Assam and West Bengal took place at same time but not a stone was pelted at any house in Assam. In West Bengal, court had to order CBI probe,” said the Chief Minister of Assam. He also said that Congress and TMC are the two sides of the same coin. The more they fight against each other, the more benefits will be reaped by the BJP.
Sarma’s statement comes at a time when the TMC is striving hard to establish its foothold in Assam and Tripura. With Sushmita Dev deserting Congress and embracing TMC, the party is striving to make its mark in Assam and Tripura. On Sunday, Sushmita held a party meet in Silchar wherein around 500 persons joined TMC.
