The dead car speaks: Writes Himadri Sekhar Das

July 13: The recent devastating flood in Silchar saw thousands of vehicles submerged under water for more than a week. So finally, as the water receded, I called the recovery van and shifted my car to Maruti Workshop. The insurance Surveyor did not come to my location…no communication was made from the Seller although we submitted all necessary documents. Finally, I called the Customer Care Executive and told him that my car is in coma for the last 23 days. He suggested to call the recovery van. Thanks to him.

I also got information today from Maruti Udyog via SMS that the cost of estimated parts is Rs. 3 lakh and labour charge is Rs. 50,000. Since my AC car was submerged in water, a total of Rs. 3.5 lakh was charged to repair my car. I don’t know how much money I will get from the Insurance company! It depends on Surveyor and other parameters.

I am confused whether it will be correct on my part to repair my car by spending so much money or  should I sell this car to as scrap!
