Tension mounts as 9 COVID-19 patients detected in Barak on Friday

২২ মেঃ শুক্রবার বরাক উপত্যকায় নয়জনের দেহে করোনার সংক্রমণ ধরা পড়েছে। এর মধ্যে ছয়জনই কাছাড় জেলার। দুইজন হাইলাকান্দির। অন্যজনের বাড়ি করিমগঞ্জে।

আজমীর থেকে আসা বাসযাত্রীদের দশজনের একসঙ্গে পজিটিভ ধরা পড়েছিল। এর পর একসঙ্গে আর এতজন সংক্রমিত হননি। শুক্রবার প্রথমে পজিটিভ রিপোর্ট আসে কাটলিছড়ার ফয়জুল হক বড়ভুইয়া (৬২) ও শিলচর শহরতলী সুরতারার এক্রাম আলি (৭২)-র।

এর পরই একসঙ্গে সাতজনের কথা জানান মন্ত্রী হিমন্ত বিশ্ব শর্মা। বিভাগীয় সূত্রে জানা গিয়েছে, এঁরা হলেন  সোনাই নন্দগ্রামের রমিজ আলি (৩২), মতি মিঞা (৫৯) ও এমজি হোসেন লস্কর (১৭), সোনাই ধনেহরির আব্দুল রহমান (৬২), ভাগাবাজারের মাহআলম তালুকদার (৩১), করিমগঞ্জ জেলার এংলারবাজারের খলিলুর রহমান (৪৫) এবং হাইলাকান্দি জেলার লালপানির জাকারিয়া আহমেদ (১৯)।  জাকারিয়া এসেছেন অন্ধ্রপ্রদেশ থেকে। বাকি ছয়জন আসামে ঢুকেছেন পশ্চিমবঙ্গ থেকে, ছাগলিয়া সীমান্ত পেরিয়ে। এর মধ্যে খলিলুর নানা শারীরিক উপসর্গের দরুন শিলচর মেডিক্যাল কলেজ হাসপাতালেই ছিলেন। অন্যদের কোয়রান্টাইন থেকে কোভিড ওয়ার্ডে পাঠানো হচ্ছে।

May 22: On Friday, 9 coronavirus infected persons were detected in Barak Valley, out of which six of them are from Cachar, two from Hailakandi and one from Karimganj. This has given rise to an atmosphere of panik in the valley in general and Silchar in particular as all of them will be admitted for treatment at Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH).

A few days ago, 10 persons who returned by bus from Ajmer Sharif were found to be COVID-19 positive. After that, there were no instance of so many persons getting infected in a single day in the Valley. On Friday afternoon at 3 PM, State Health Minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma tweeted, “Two persons from Silchar quarantine centre are found #COVID19 +. One each from Cachar and Hailakandi.” A  62-year-old person from Katlichera in Hailakandi and another 72-year old man from Surtara in the outskirts of Silchar were infected with coronavirus. However, both of them were under institutional quarantine and have been sent at the COVID-19 ward of SMCH.

Later on at 6.20 PM on Friday, Himanta Biswa Sarma again informed that 7 more persons from Barak Valley were detected to be COVID-19 positive. As per departmental sources, they are 32 years old & 59 years old persons from Nandagram in Sonai, 62 years old man from Dhonehari in Sonai, 31-year-old from Bhagabazar, a 45 years old person from Anglabazar in Karimganj district and a 19-year old youth from Lalpani in Hailakandi. Out of the seven, one of them entered Assam from Andhra Pradesh, while the rest of them came from West Bengal. However, the 45 years old patient from Anglabazar in Karimganj was already undergoing treatment at SMCH due to various other ailments. The other six were in quarantine centres and were later taken to the COVID-19 ward of SMCH.
