Tension mounts again in Assam- Mizoram border, two CMs point finger at each other

July 26: In what seems to be a matter of grave concern is that fresh violence has erupted at Lailapur in Assam – Mizoram border on Monday. As per reports, Deputy Commissioner, Cachar, Keerthi Jalli went to visit the Assam Mizoram border on Monday, where she too had to face resistance from the Mizos. As per reports, both Mizo civilians and Mizoram Police were forcibly trying to intrude inside the territory of Assam.

Mizo civilians were also seen in an aggressive mood at the post with sticks etc in their hands. Stones were also pelted by them. Bullets were also fired in which some Assam Police officials and a few civilians were injured. Reports also suggested that vehicles on both the sides were vandalised. Cachar Police Super Nimbalkar Vaibhav Chandrakant is also on the spot.

The matter was also taken extremely seriously by Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma. Taking to his twitter handle, Dr Sarma narrated the situation and sought immediate intervention of Mizoram Chief Minister. CM Assam also tagged his post with Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Addressing the tweet to Mizoram Chief Minister Zoramthanga, Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma wrote, “Honble ⁦@ZoramthangaCM ji, Kolasib ( Mizoram) SP is asking us to withdraw from our post until then their civilians won’t listen nor stop violence. How can we run government in such circumstances? Hope you will intervene at earliest ⁦@AmitShah @PMOIndia.”

Meanwhile, taking to his twitter handle and sharing a video clip, Mizoram Chief Minister Zoramthanga also tweeted to Home Minister Amit Shah and sought his intervention.
