Tender floated for running canteen at Circuit House

August.27: The Cachar district administration has invited tenders from interested caterers for running a canteen in the premises of Circuit House, Silchar. Floating the tender on Wednesday, the administration stated that persons with minimum three years experience in catering, having sufficient knowledge of local cuisines of Assam and with sound financial background can apply for running the canteen, including house keeping at the Circuit House.

The last date of receiving tenders is slated for September 7 up to 3.00 pm and will be opened on the same day at 4 pm in the presence of Nazarat Officer and applicants or their authorised representatives. Selected applicants shall have to deposit an amount of of Rs.25,000 only as security deposit for the use of space etc at the time of receiving work order. The catering service will be provided to persons who are alloted rooms at the Circuit House only.

It was also stated that the contractor shall engage canteen staff over the age of 18 years in accordance with the labour laws, besides keeping the canteen neat and clean. However, other than VVIPs and VIPs, the contractor shall have to ensure services of food items to inmates and guests staying at the Circuit House through his staff.
During special occasions, refreshments, tea, snacks, cold drinks, lunch and dinner shall have to be served by the canteen at reasonable rates fixed by the Circuit House authority.

The selected caterers shall have to install fire extinguishers in the canteen as per requirement of fire brigade services. The contractor should notify the list of staff employed by him from time to time and get their identity cards issued from Circuit House authority. The contractor and his staff must adhere to the security norms of Circuit House. The contractor will have to keep the canteen open from 6 am to 10 pm from Monday to Sunday.

Water and electricity will be provided by the Circuit House authority free of cost for serving food and other items. Validity of the contract will be of one year period from the date of signing of the agreement to further continuation with the approval of the Deputy Commissioner. The order stated that the Deputy Commissioner reserves the right to terminate the contract at any point of time issuing maximum of 10 days’ notice and without assigning any reason thereof. The contractor shall have to deposit an amount of Rs.10,000 only every month in advance to the Circuit House management account as monthly rent.
