Team One Foundation distribute essentials in containment zone at Chotojalenga
June 23: NGO Team One Foundation of Silchar again stood besides those who are bearing the brunt of the pandemic. On Tuesday, NGO members distributed essential commodities and vegetables to the 75 families of Chotojalenga Bazartilla in Borjalenga GP who are placed under Containment zone since 14 June after detection of a COVID-19 patient from the locality. A person, named, Pinki Rana with a travel history from Madhya Pradesh was placed under home quarantine there, who later on tested positive.
Reportedly, the NGO members handed over the food kits to the people of Chotojalenga Bazartilla maintaining government norms. Meanwhile, most of the people of Chotojalenga’s Bazartilla are basically daily wage earners and due to imposition of restriction, they are facing acute financial crisis. Keeping this aspect in mind, Team One Foundation out of the feeling of social commitment distributed essential commodities like Oil, Potato, Rice, Masoor Dal, fresh vegetables, soaps and hygienic hand wash.
On the same day, the members of the NGO also distributed soaps among the workers of Rosekandi Tea Estate and the house keeping workers of Assam University, Silchar in the presence of the General Manager of Rasekandi Tea Estate and also the President of Team One Foundation I.B Ubhadia and other NGO members including Vice President Debojyoti Ghosh, General Secretary Arijit Goswami, Asst. General Secretary Himanish Dey, Media Cell Incharge Mohitosh Jyoti Tanti, Dharmendra Tiwary Education Wing Convener Niptu Paul Medical Wing Convener, Executive Member Ajoy Deb, Dhrubo Bhattacharjee. They were also assisted by Ekal Abhiyan Dwarbond unit President Mohesh Chandra Tanti, Borjalenga GP Representatives Satyendra Roy among others.
Speaking during the occasion, President of Team One Foundation I.B. Ubhadia said “On behalf of Team One Foundation, today we served essential commodities among 75 Families of Chotojalenga village who are under Containment zone. We also gave soaps to the workers of Rosekandi Tea Estate and Assam University’s house keeping staff. We feel that as human beings, it’s our responsibility to help the most vulnerable section in their time of need.”
Mr. Ubadia also informed that lessons on hygiene were imparted to the people. He said, “We made the people aware of the importance of wearing face masks in order to keep the coronavirus away from us. We have also demonstrated the concept of washing hands with soaps. Other facets of hygiene were also explained to the people of the containment zone.”
General Secretary of Team One Foundation, Arijit Goswami praised about the steps adopted by some local people of Chotojalenga during this critical phase. He highlighted the case of one Ajoy Deb, a member of Team One Foundation who arranged around 2 quintals of fresh vegetables for the people residing within the containment zone.
