Suspended VC of Dibrugarh University removed from office by the Governor over corruption charges
Nov. 23: In a latest development, Assam Governor Prof. Jagdish Mukhi removed Prof. Ranjit Tamuli from his position as Vice Chancellor of Dibrugarh University with immediate effect on Monday. The Governor of Assam in his capacity as Chancellor of the Dibrugarh University and in the exercise of the powers conferred upon him decided to sack Prof Tamuli, from the office of the Vice-Chancellor.
Prof. Tamuli was on suspension since February after a fact-finding committee had indicted him of financial irregularities, corruption and misuse of power during his tenure as VC. He was on suspension since February 11. The Governor’s Secretariat further informed that the revised inquiry report was presented on September 20 and concluded that the claims and charges levelled against Tamuli “are proved” based on “oral and documentary evidence.”
