Sushmita Dev writes to DC Cachar for reforming admission of TDC; delegation meets ADC

Sept. 14: In a memorandum addressed to Deputy Commissioner, Cachar, former MP and TMC leader Sushmita Dev urged to take necessary steps in respect of the admission procedure of TDC in various colleges and institutions of Silchar, Cachar. On Tuesday, the memorandum was handed over to DDC Rajib Roy in the absence of the Deputy Commissioner. The memorandum was handed over by Sajal Banik, Anupam Paul, Rajesh Deb, Ronnie Dutta among others.

In the said memorandum, TMC leader Sushmita Dev wrote, “I would like to inform you that admission in Three Years Degree Courses (T.D.C.) in various Colleges/ Institutions of Si!char is under process. You might be aware of the fact that there is govt. norms that students who hail from low income group family are exempted from depositing the Admission Fees of that Instituion. In this connection, such students have to produce an “Income Certificate” of their parents/ guardian to the College / Institution Authority before taking an admission. As well, all of them have applied during a short period and the number of applicants has become huge in number.”

“I would like to draw your immediate attention to the fact that as the College authority has fixed a very short time for the admission procedure and your office is unable to provide all such “Income Certificates” within this short period the students are facing serious difficulties in taking the admission. Due to non-availability of the Income Certificate they are being asked to deposit the concerned fees and take an admission otherwise they might not get a further chance for admission. Once the admission procedure is over, college authority will not be responsible. They are not allowing extra time to the students for producing their Income Certificates, which we think is complete injustice with the students,” wrote Ms Dev.

It is in this backdrop that the TMC leader requested the DC Cachar to “kindly take urgent necessary steps for a fruitful solution in this regard. The College authority may be asked to consider the matter and give them some extra time for taking admission, and also they may be asked to submit the income certificate later on in greater interest of the students.”
