Successful Marathon Marks Veer Lachit Borphukan’s 402nd Birth Anniversary in Hailakandi

way2barak, November 30: Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) Hailakandi District organized a grand marathon today from Aynakhal Timukha to Hailakandi Bypass to commemorate the 402nd birth anniversary of the legendary Ahom warrior Veer Lachit Borphukan. Beginning at 4:30 AM, the 6-kilometer marathon saw overwhelming participation from enthusiastic young men and women, demonstrating their admiration for Lachit Borphukan’s bravery and sacrifice. The event, under the in-charge leadership of Saumitra Dey and active involvement of BJYM members, celebrated the warrior’s legacy by promoting unity and vigor among the youth.

Samsuddin Laskar emerged as the winner, receiving a cash prize of ₹5000, while SK Mazumder and Gulzar Hussain secured the second and third positions, winning ₹3000 and ₹2000, respectively.

District BJYM President Milon Das applauded the participants and praised the efforts of the volunteers for their tireless dedication in making the event a resounding success. This marathon not only paid homage to Lachit Borphukan’s indomitable spirit but also inspired the younger generation to emulate his ideals of courage and patriotism. Around 200 participants showed enthusiasm at the event.
