Students Union alleges partiality by Prof.G.P.Pandey, enquiry against Partha Sarkar to be completed within 4 months

২৩ ডিসেম্বর: আসাম বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের মাস কম্যুনিকেশন বিভাগের সহযোগী অধ্যাপক ড. পার্থ সরকারের বিরুদ্ধে আনা এমফিল স্কলারের যৌন নির্যাতনের অভিযোগের তদন্ত আগামী চার মাসে সম্পন্ন হবে৷ ভারপ্রাপ্ত রেজিস্ট্রার প্রদ্যুষকিরণ নাথ সোমবার সন্ধ্যায় এ সংক্রান্ত নোটে স্বাক্ষর করেন৷ উপাচার্যও তাতে অনুমোদন জানান৷

পার্থ সরকারের বিরুদ্ধে তদন্তের কাজ অত্যন্ত ধীরে চলছে বলে সোমবার ছাত্র সংসদের পক্ষ থেকে অভিযোগ করা হয়৷ তারা সেজন্য সন্দেহের আঙুল তোলেন অধ্যাপক জি পি পান্ডের দিকে৷ তিনি একইসঙ্গে বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের চিফ ভিজিল্যান্স অফিসার, ডিন এবং মাস কম্যুনিকেশনের বিভাগীয় প্রধান৷ ছাত্রদের তাকে সন্দেহের কারণ তিনি পার্থ সরকারের পিএইচডি সুপারভাইজর ছিলেন৷ তার নিয়োগ সংক্রান্ত কমিটিতেও ছিলেন ড. পান্ডে৷ ছাত্র সংসদের আশঙ্কা, তিনি তদন্তে ইচ্ছে করে ফাঁকফোকর রেখে চলেছেন৷ সে জন্য সাসপেনশনের আগে পার্থ সরকারের বক্তব্য শোনা হয়নি৷

December 23: The ongoing process of enquiry against Dr. Partha Sarkar, Associate Professor of the Department of Mass Communication on the basis of the complaint of sexual harrasment lodged by a female M.Phil schoolar will be completed within a time frame of four months. A note in this regard was prepared by Dr. P.K. Nath, Registrar in-charge of Assam University which also received the approval of the Vice Chancellor. However, in the note signed by the Registrar in-charge, the deadline mentioned for completion of the enquiry was mentioned as 20 April, 2019 instead of 2020!

In a memorandum addressed to the Vice Chancellor of Assam University, the Assam University Students’ Union (AUSU) on Monday alleged that the enquiry on Dr. Partha Sarkar is not going on in a free and fair manner. They alleged that Prof. G.P. Pandey who was the Ph.D supervisor of Partha Sarkar was trying to shield him. They further alleged that Prof. G.P. Pandey is illegally holding the position of Dean and Head inspite of the fact that his tenure has ended. They demanded immediate removal of Prof. Pandey from these two responsibilities. Further, AUSU also raised the demand removing Prof. Pandey from the post of Chief Vigilance Officer.

However, though the Registrar in-charge assured in his note to ensure justice in the matter of enquiry but no decision was taken on the demands raised by AUSU against Prof. G.P. Pandey. The memorandum submitted by the Students’ Union, however, stated that ‘in case the University fails to implement even a single arrangement out of the above, then they will approach the MHRD for redress of their grievances.
