Street play on tobacco control organised by Barak Valley Welfare Development Society

March 23: A street play on Tobacco Control Awareness Programme was organised by Barak Valley Welfare Development Society (NGO), Cachar, Silchar under National Tobacco Control Programme supported by District Health Society (DHS), National Health Mission (NHM) Cachar, Silchar. The street play was organised at different parts of the town including DC office point, Tarapur Railway Station, Rangirkhari point, E&D Colony Point, Subashnagar Point.

The street play depicted the evil effects of tobacco which include cardiovascular disease, cancer, chronic lungs disease and diabetes. The team also discussed about various facilities of Government on Tobacco Control Programme and about the preventive measures of Tobacco Control and also distributed leaflets in local languages. The programme ended up with the vote of thanks by Executive Director of the organization Gaurav Chanda.
