Steps taken to lift urban DTR above flood level; APDCL issues new office complaint number
July 4: During the recent devastating flood in Silchar town, the electricity supply was badly affected as the distribution transformers were submerged in the flood water. As the water level has now receded, Assam Power Distribution Company Limited (APDCL), Silchar Electrical Sub-Division II has started to find a plausible solution to prevent the distribution transformer from getting submerged in water in the future. On Monday, steps were being taken by the APDCL to lift the Urban DTR (distribution transformer) upto a certain height to prevent submergence as far as possible.
A distribution transformer (DTR) or service transformer is a transformer that provides the final voltage transformation in the electric power distribution system, stepping down the voltage used in the distribution lines to the level used by the customer.
Moreover, in another message, APDCL Silchar Electrical Sub-Division II has informed that as their existing landline no. 03842-241528 remains out of service most of the time, so the consumers can now make calls to their new office complaint no. 7086044119.
