State BJP mourns the demise of Tarun Gogoi, suspends all party programmes till 26 Nov
Nov. 23: Assam Pradesh Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has mourned the demise of former Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi. In a letter addressed to all district Presidents of the party, BJP MP and State General Secretary of Assam Pradesh BJP, Tapan Kumar Gogoi wrote, “Veteran Congress leader and former Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi passed away on Monday evening at 5.34 PM. We express deep grief at his death.”
The letter further stated, “Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) conveys deep regards to the departed soul. BJP State President Ranjit Kumar Dass has directed to suspend all party programmes & public occasions till 26 November, 2020.
Announcing the news of Gogoi’s demise on Monday evening, Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that his body will be taken first to his official residence and from there, it will then be kept at Srimanta Sankardev Kalashetra for the people to pay their last tribute to their beloved leader. His last rites will be performed with full state honour.
