Speeding tipper hits auto rickshaw at Dolu, 3 including auto driver killed

Dec. 26: In an unfortunate incident, 3 lives were taken again by a speeding tipper. On Sunday evening, a tipper hit an auto-rickshaw in the Silchar- Haflong Mahasadak in between Dolu and Moinagarh in which 3 persons including the auto driver lost their lives. Out of the 3, two of them (passengers) died on the spot, while the 3rd one succumbed to the injuries on the way to Silchar Medical College & Hospital. Two of them were identified as Ritujyoti Bhattacharjee (35) and Sanjib Akura (30). The identity of the 3rd person was not known till the filing of this report.

Meanwhile, being angered, the locals kept the two dead bodies and blocked the road. OC of Borkhala Police Station Monmohan Routh reached the spot but failed to convince the people. People did not allow the police to take the dead bodies for autospy. It was then that Police Super Ramandeep Kaur along with officers and forces went there. The locals alleged that due to rash driving, tippers off and on kill people on that road. “Today also, two speeding tippers loaded with stones were competing with each other. As one of them tried to overtake, it straightaway crashed into an auto- rickshaw coming from the opposite direction, which took the lives of 3 persons.”

Ultimately, the Police Super assured the mob to take stern actions against the tippers after consultation with the district administration. Finally, after around 2 to 3 hours, the road blockade was withdrawn getting assurance from the SP. Police recovered the dead bodies and sent them for post-mortem at Silchar Medical College & Hospital.
