SP Karbi Anglong & his team performs last rites of COVID victim of Assam
June 11: Assam has recorded the 6th COVID-19 related death. As per reports, the deceased identified as Kamal Krishna Pal, died in Tezpur Medical College Hospital (TMCH) while undergoing treatment.
Taking to its twitter handle, Assam Police wrote, “A sensitive and humane gesture from SP @karbianglongpol & his team, who went way beyond the call of duty & personally performed last rites of a #COVID19 patient, following all given protocols. A family member of the deceased was also present to perform required religious rituals.”

Kamal Krishna Pal, a cancer patient was in Mumbai during lockdown for his treatment. He back to Tezpur in Assam on 29 May. Thereafter, his swab sample was collected and the reports came on 31 May, when he was tested positive. Pal breathed his last on Wednesday. Since then, Pal was undergoing treatment at TMCH. As per reports, Pal’s wife, Bharati Pal has also been infected by COVID19. This takes the total COVID-19 related death tally in the state to five.
As of now, Assam has recorded a total of 3285 novel coronavirus cases till Wednesday, out of which 2027 are active cases. Till now, 1249 persons were cured and discharged, while 03 of them migrated.
