‘Sok Divas’observed in Cachar, Hailakandi & Karimganj
August 16: Along with the rest of Assam, Sok Divas was also observed in the three districts of Barak Valley. Observance of Sok Divas (day of grief) was organised by Hailakandi district administration at its office premises on August 16, 2020. DDC, Vikram Dev Sharma administered the pledge to the officials and employees. Floral tributes were paid to the innocent victims of the Dhemaji blast. ADC, EL Faihraem and other officials were present.
‘Sok Divas’ was also observed on Sunday in the office of the Deputy Commissioner, Karimganj and other government establishments with one minute silence to mourn the death of innocents killed in a bomb blast while attending Independence Day celebrations at Dhemaji in 2004 while defying the ban of militant organization. A pledge was also taken to work unitedly for peace and harmony in the state and raise one’s voice against all acts of militant/extremist violence.
In Cachar too, Sok Diwas was observedon Sunday to mourn the death of innocent persons killed in a bomb blast at Dhemaji. A programme was organised by the district administration here at DC’s office premises, where officials and employees took the pledge on the occasion. District Development Commissioner, Jessica Lalsim, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Rajib Roy, Additional Deputy Commissioner, AR Mazumder, among others, were present.
