SMS for electricity bill payment from mobile no 7718380211 is FAKE, ignore it, says APDCL

May 28: It has come to the forefront that some miscreants are sending SMS about disconnection of power supply to the electricity consumers. However, clarifying the same, APDCL Silchar Electrical Sub-Division-II stated, “Please note that APDCL never sends such SMS. Consumers are requested not to heed to such messages and complain about them in the number “1912“. The official SMS sender ID of APDCL is ‘DAPDCL’. Be Alert, Be Safe.”

APDCL further stated, “It is to inform all our valued consumers that some fraudulent calls and messages are being received by consumers for bill payment. In all the cases that we have got, the consumer has either paid the bill in advance or the due date has not surpassed and in one case, it is a prepaid meter, said the consumer. They are receiving a message from +91 77183 80211 that stated “electricity power will be disconnected tonight at 9.30 pm from the electricity office because of previous month bill was not update. Please be aware of such fraudulent messages & for any detail, please contact your concerned billing office.”
