‘Smokeless Kitchen Village’ implemented at Bishnupur during 72nd Vanmahotsava in Cachar
July 2: Cachar Forest Division celebrated 72nd “Vanmahotsava” with strict adherence to covid protocols in Bishnupur Forest Village under Hawaithang Range, Dholai, Cachar in a befitting manner on Friday. Sandeep Kumar, IFS, Additional Principal Chief Conservator of Forests, Lower Assam Zone ,Guwahati graced the occasion along with District Forest Officer ,Cachar, Saunnydeo Chowdhury, Reserve Forest Officer and all the forest officials of the Range Forest Office.
On this occasion, ‘smokeless kitchen village’, implemented in Bishnupur Forest Village under Nationally Appropriate Mitigation Actions project was inaugurated by Additional Principal Chief Conservator of Forests, Lower Assam Range along with other officials.
Sapling distribution and plantation programme was held by all the dignitaries and people of the village on this occasion. Sandeep Kumar, IFS appreciated the promptness of forest villagers of Bishnupur Forest Village for implementing 100 percent smokeless kitchen village. This will reduce the consumption of fuel wood by 40 percent and also improve the health of the ladies and children of the house. He also made an appeal to the people to plant and protect as many trees as possible during this rainy season which will benefit them and the environment.
