SMCH does 111 deliveries of Covid +ve mothers in August with full success
September 2: Amidst the ongoing pandemic, when many allegations as regards management of COVID-19 are made against Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH), this health institute of Barak Valley has earned laurels for itself as it has successfully performed 111 deliveries of Covid-19 positive mothers in the month of August, 2020. Out of the 111 deliveries, 46 were Caesarean babies. In a tweet, Silchar MP Dr. Rajdeep Roy informed that all the mothers and the new born babies are doing well. he congratulated the team of O&G Department, SMCH for this wonderful feat. State Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma too expressed delight and wrote, “A wonderful achievement. Congratulation Team SMCH.”

Further, SMCH on Wednesday also successfully administered plasma theraphy to 12 COVID-19 positive patients. Sharing this information, MP Silchar, Dr. Rajdeep Roy tweeted, “Today 12 patients received #plasmatherapy at #SMCH. I thank the donors who have come forward to donate plasma at this critical hour and helping doctors by giving them more options for treatment! 1 plasma=2lives saved.”
