‘Slew of initiatives by CM augur well for Kaziranga National Park’, says Forest Minister
May 27: Environment and Forest Minister, Parimal Suklabaidya said the slew of initiatives taken for protection of wildlife in Kaziranga National Park on Thursday will herald better days for the world famous national park.
Emerging from the meeting, Minister Suklabaidya said the various initiatives taken at a high level meeting chaired by Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma at Kaziranga will help safeguard and protect the wildlife from flood, poaching and accidents.
Exuding optimism, Suklabaidya said the holding of a high level meeting by Chief Minister Sarma with senior officials of the Forest department and SPs and DCs of the adjoining districts in which the areas of KNP falls is a harbinger that better days are ahead for the world famous national park.

He said that the Chief Minister gave the go ahead in preparing a comprehensive plan, including new protection force, infrastructure and highlands for protection of the wildlife from annual flood, poaching and road accidents. “Long term plans are on the anvil to protect the wildlife of Kaziranga National Park from flood, poaching and road accidents. And these steps augur well for the national park,” he equipped.
Suklabaidya said that the Chief Minister has assured of all help and assistance to safeguard the wildlife of the national park. He said that the Chief Minister has given the approval for raising the ration amount of the forest personnel from Rs.830 to Rs.2000 per month.
The Forest Minister during whose tenure in the previous government rhino poaching had come down drastically drawing appreciation from the Supreme Court, thanked the people of Karbi Anglong for protection of one horned rhino and other animals when they cross over to their side during flood.
