Silchar youth Indraroop comes home on 2-wheeler in 5 days from Jalandar

April 17: Youths are no doubt adventurous, but a few of them are indeed much more rocking than the others. One such teenager from Link Road, Silchar is Indraroop Goswami (Boney). Indraroop (19) studies Mass Communication course (BA 4th semester) at Lovely Professional University, Jalandhar. On Friday night, his parents probably got the greatest surprise of their lifetime, when they suddenly heard the sound of calling bell. On opening the door, Indraroop’s father Bibhuti Bhushan Goswami, a teacher by profession was wonder struck to see his son on the door steps with a helmet on his head.

Immediately, the senior Goswami called his wife. The couple though were immense happy to find their son at home, but at the same time were unable to fathom, how all these happened. On query, Indraroop told them that he came from Jalandhar on his motorbike. Expressing his reaction, Mr.Bibhuti Bhushan Goswami said, “I had just an iota of doubt when 5 days ago Boney told me over telephone that he might come home. But never ever had I gauged that, he would come home riding his bike! Thank God, he has reached safely.”

The distance between Silchar to Jalandhar by road is 2581 kms. Indrarup took 5 days to travel from Jalandhar to his home in Silchar. Though a dare devil act, yet the arduous journey involved great risk. He followed Covid protocol, wore face mask during the journey and used hand sanitiser all along the way, wherever he halted for meals. His parents exhibited mixed feelings on discerning that their Boney has come home on his motorbike. On one hand, they were indeed happy to meet their son, but on the other, they were tensed as Boney covered such a long distance on motorbike. But the inner feelings which could be discerned in their eyes was “Oh good God, thanks for bringing back our son safe at home.”
