Silchar youth, a divyang artist presents a portrait made by him to PM Modi

July 22: It’s indeed a proud moment for Silchar in particular and Barak Valley in general that a a divyang artist who hails from Silchar met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi on Friday and presented a portrait made by him. Abhijeet Gotani went along with his mother Lalita Gotani to meet the Prime Minister. Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma was also present there when Abhijeet handed over the portrait to the Prime Minister.

The portrait made by Abhijeet Gotani depicted the various phases of the life of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. From his childhood to becoming the Prime Minister, all phases were pained in a skillful way by Abhijeet. The Prime Minister’s mother blessing him was also depicted in the collage which he made.

Being a divyang, Abhijeet Gotani did not lose heart and rather went ahead showcasing his talent of painting. This particular aspect of Abhijeet’s tenacity of overcoming his physical problems impressed the Prime Minister who blessed the talented artist to move ahead in life.

Expressing delight, CM Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma in a tweet on Friday wrote, “A heart-warming moment as Adarniya PM Shri @narendramodi ji showered his blessings on Abhijeet Gotani, a divyang artist from Silchar, who met the Hon’ble PM along with his mother Smt Lalita Gotani to present a portrait made by him. Happy to be present during the meeting.”

Reacting to this, DC Cachar Rohan Kr Jha said, “It was indeed a moment of pride for Cachar district, when Sri Abhijit Gotani, a Divyang Artist and resident of Silchar got the opportunity to meet the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, Sri Narendra Modi Ji accompanied by Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, Hon’ ble Chief Minister of Assam. They presented a portrait to Hon’ble Prime Minister. District Administration, Cachar wishes Sri Abhijit Gotani a very bright future.”

Abhijeet Gotani passed HSLC from Maharishi Vidya Mandir, Silchar. He also passed HS in 1st division with 4 letters form Maharshi. He then did his graduation from Lalit Jain Commerce College, Silchar. A resident of Rangirkhari, Abhijeet then went on to take degree in Fine Arts. Though he is unable to speak and listen properly, yet he is brilliant in studies and painting. He is also a very good cricketer. This year he will be playing for Club Oasis.

Recalling his school days, one of his teachers, Bireswar Bhattacharjee said, “I taught Abhijit during his student life at Class X and XII in Maharishi Vidya Mandir, Silchar. He was brilliant in studies, painting and sports. Inspite of being a divyang, he was very hard-working. I am very happy to see Abhijit today meeting our Prime Minister. His hard work and dedication will fetch him many more such glorious moments in his life.”
