Silchar MLA as part of Indian Red Cross team distribute food & water at Tapoban Nagar area
May 22: It’s water & water everywhere at Tapoban Nagar in Silchar. People residing in that area are water locked and are having a very tough time.On Sunday, Silchar MLA Dipayan Chakraborty along with his fellow members of the Indian Red Cross Society’s Silchar branch, visited the flood-hit Tapobannagar village under Ambicapur GP and fed cooked food (khichuri) to over 1000 people residing in that region.
Expressing his views, Red Cross member and MLA, Dipayan Chakraborty said, “We also supplied baby food and other essentials to the locals. We arranged for home delivery of those who could not be physically present during our food camp. I along with the team of Red Cross Society were greatly assisted by the SDRF team who facilitated us with two boats to reach our destination.” He further said, “I also extend my heartfelt gratitude and appreciation towards the Indian Red Cross Society for their relentless pursuit in reaching out for help to anyone in need over the years. I, being the Secretary of the prestigious organization, take pride and honour in this fact always. I thank local social activists Jatindra Das and GP President Surat Das who guided us throughout.”
MLA Chakraborty was accompanied by Chairman of the Red Cross Society’s Silchar unit Biresh Banerjee, Abhijeet Paul, Bikramjit Chakraborty, Niloy Paul and volunteers of the Red Cross during the camp.
