Silchar Inner Wheel Club celebrates 17th Installation ceremony

July 4: The 17th Installation ceremony of Inner Wheel Club (IWC) of Silchar was held on Friday. Keeping in mind the ongoing pandemic, a simple ceremony was organised with bare minimum guests and strictly following the COVID-19 protocol. The ceremony began with a pledge to fight COVID-19 by raising awareness among the masses.

The programme began with lightning the lamp by the dignitaries. Rtn Sumita Som , Association Secretary, Inner Wheel India was the Chief guest of the occasion. Rtn Tapas Kumar Roy, President,Rotary Club Silchar graced the occasion as Guest of Honour. Immediate Past President (IPP) Jhumki Saha handed over the Club Charter and presented the collar, to the President 2020-21 Rtn Sutapa Bhattacharjee. The members of Inner Wheel Club of Silchar organised the programme wearing face masks and maintaining social distancing.

The Inner Wheel Theme of the year “Lead the Change” was echoed in the speech of the new President Sutapa Bhattacharjee. She asserted that that in a time when the world is captivated by novel coronavirus, the members of Inner Wheel Club will definitely rise above the occasion and spread awareness to contain the further spread of this deadly virus. Sutapa Bhattacharjee joined IWC, Silchar in 2009. She was the Secretary of the Club in 2016-17 and earned recognition for her work.

It needs mention that Inner Wheel Club, Silchar achieved great success in the previous year under the Presidentship of Jhumki Saha and earned 19 awards, the highest in District 324.
