Silchar girl Shrestha Paul’s debut book ‘An Ode to the Moon’ hit stands, now available on Amazon, Notionpress

December 30: Shrestha Paul, a young girl of the neighbourhood in Silchar has transgressed the geographical  space by dint of her creativity and has gone global. It’s indeed a great achievement for the 20-year old Shrestha, but more notably, she has also carved a niche for Silchar in particular and Barak Valley in general for being one of the youngest litterateur of the time.

Published by Notion Press, Chennai, Shrestha Paul’s debut book ‘An Ode to the Moon’ has hit the stands and is now available on Amazon, Flipkart & Notion Press. An Ode to the Moon is a compilation of short stories, poems and open letters. Each of the stories entails the lives of a character next door. The poems, whereas open to a subtle hinge of grief, irony and smiles. Open Letters, on the other hand, portrays the personae of emotions, anger, loss. The book compiles different genres of literature, yet has characters which feel like a person living next door.

Daughter of Sujit Paul and Paromita Paul, Shrestha is a student of literature honours at Ramanuj Gupta Degree College, Silchar, whose heart is already attached to the world of fiction. She says, her dreams are illogical logical hence penning them down is the best way to live the dreams. She says hers is a crazy mind entrapped in a silent soul. Pursuing her graduation in English, she has her fictional world where at times she creates the characters or she plays the role of one. She has always been affectionate and passionate towards literature and hence, her paper plane full of weird dreams landed on the empire of words.

Music being the food for her soul and Books being the cuisine for her eyes, she is the person who has her heart’s strings attached to that of a violin. She is that energetic soul which longs to be in the world full of some illogical dreams. Hailing from the land of one of the Seven Sisters of Assam, she aspires to drive her career car in the existing world of words and fictional characters. She has been the awarded the TCC REX Karmaveer Chakra, 2019.
