Silchar Flood 2.0: Free mobile charging hub & drinking water stand set up by Sand Brothers

June 26: When most of the areas in Silchar town are in grip of devastating flood, the residents of the 2nd largest town in Assam are passing their days in great agony being submerged in water and devoid of electricity, drinking water and other basic necessities of life, there are some good Samaritans who were out on the streets to help people at this hour of distress.

Since Friday, the owners of Sand Brothers opposite SM Dev Civil Hospital, Silchar have set up a mobile charging point with multiple plug points for people of the town to charge their mobile phones free of cost. Also, they have set up a free drinking water stand, where they are offering pure drinking water to the people. These two facilities have been set-up in the fond memory of Pushpa Devi Sand.

Speaking to way2barak, owner of Sand Brothers said, “There are many areas in the town where there is no electricity. People are unable to charge their mobile phones. So to help the people in distress, we have set up this charging point where atleast 15-20 mobiles can be charged at a single time. We are also offering free pure drinking water to the people. We will continue with these two services until the flood situation gets normalised.”
