Silchar DCC observes 29th death anniversary of former PM Rajiv Gandhi
May 21: Silchar District Congress Committee (DCC) observed the 29th death anniversary of former Indian Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi on Thursday at Indira Bhavan, Silchar. At the very outset, Senior Vice President of District Congress, Monikanta Sinha unfurled the party flag. Thereafter floral tribute was paid on the portrait of the late Indian Prime Minister by DCC, Youth Congress, NSUI, Congress Seva Dal, Mahila Congress and other cells and departments of Silchar DCC.
This was followed by a seminar on the life and works of Bharat Ratna Rajiv Gandhi. The seminar session was presided over by Amitabha Sen. The seminar entitled, “Rajiv ji, a Man with a Mission,” saw speeches from different persons including Sanjeev Roy-Secretary APCC, Sujon Dutta- General Secretary DCC , Partha Ranjan Chakraborty- Chairman, Silchar DCC Media Department, Simanto Bhattacharjee- Vice President DCC, Sanchita Acharjee- President, DMCC, Mohanlal Das- General Secretary DCC, Debodip Dutta, Foyjur Rahman Laskar, Abdul Rajjak, Sajal Deb, Rajdip Debroy among others.
The speakers highlighted the positive aspects of the life and career of Rajiv Gandhi and his role as a global leader. His views on ‘India in 21st Century’ was highlighted by different speakers in the Seminar. The concluding speech was delivered by Amitabh Sen who concluded the seminar with a favourite bhajan of Mahatma Gandhi. ‘Ishwar Allah Tero Naam, Sabko Sammati De Bhagvan.’
