Silchar Congress pays homage to former Minister Mahitosh Purkayastha

July 29: Silchar District Congress Committee (DCC) paid deep homage to former Minister of Assam, renowned Freedom Fighter and a great Trade Union leader to Late Mahitosh Purkayastha on his 101st Birth Anniversary on Wednesday at Indira Bhavan, Silchar. The ceremony was held observing COVID-19 protocol.

At the outset, the party flag was unfurled by Monikanta Sinha. Floral tributes were paid on the portrait of Late Mahitosh Purkayastha. This was followed by a seminar entitled ‘A Man of Principle’ on the life and achievements of Mahitosh Purkayastha. The seminar was presided over by Monikanta Sinha, Senior Vice President of Silchar District Congress Committee (DCC). Different speakers highlighted the deeds and achievements of the great leader of the Valley and urged upon the youths to follow his ideologies and principles.

Those who participated in the seminar are Sanjeev Roy, Secretary APCC, Amitabha Sen, Acting President DCC Silchar, General Secretary Rahul Alam Laskar, Simanto Bhattacharjee, Sujan Dutta and Papon Dev,, Sanchita Acharjee, Mahila Congress President, Abdul Rajjak, Sanjay Dey, Mashuk Ahmed (president NSUI), Anupam Paul, Debodeep Dutta among others.
