Silchar Congress observes ‘Silent Satyagraha’ condemning Hathras incident

Oct. 7: As per direction of the Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC), a ‘Silent Satyagraha’ programme was conducted at the pedestal of the statue of Khudiram Bose at Club Road by Silchar District Congress Committee (DCC) on Wednesday. The gherao programme was organised as a mark of protest against the recent incident which took place at ‘Hathras’ in Uttar Pradesh.

Later on speaking to newsmen, one of the participants of this ‘silent satyagraha’ said, “Today’s Silent Satyagraha programme was organised by the Congress against the inhuman and undemocratic attitude of the Uttar Pradesh government in connection with the Hathras rape and murder case. We demand justice for the victims family.”

A large number of office bearers of Silchar DCC, Block Congress office bearers, members of frontal wings, cells and departments of the party were present during the demonstration. Among them were former minister Ajit Singh, Partha Ranjan Chakraborty, Sanchita Acharjee, Sajal Banik, Deboja Sumanta among others.
