Silchar Congress burns effigy of Minister Bhobesh Kalita for allegedly abusing Bengalis

July 23: Silchar District Congress Committee (DCC) burnt the effigy of State Minister Bhobesh Kalita on Thursday in front of Tennis Club. Speaking during the occasion, Sanjeev Roy, Secretary of Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) said, “On 18 July, Bhobesh Kalita uttered unparliamentary words against the entire Bengali community during his visit to flood affected areas in at Rangia. It’s a serious offence by a minister of Assam Government for which Silchar DCC has lodged a strong complain. We demand him to be sacked immediately from Assam ministry and seek apology without delay.”

Present during the burning of effigy were Pradip Kumar Dey- President, Silchar DCC, Sanjeev Roy- Secretary of APCC, Sujan Dutta- General Secretary of DCC, Rahul Alam Laskar- General Secretary (admin), Abhijit Paul- General Secretary DCC, Ashish Acharjee, Kaushal Dutta, Sajal Dev, Sarifujjaman Laskar, Rajdeep Debroy, Anupam Paul, Debdip Dutta and others.
