Shilpangan declares result of national level online art competition

June 20: The outbreak of coronavirus pandemic resulted in nationwide lockdown for more than two months. In order to bring forth the creativity among the students during the lockdown, ‘Shilpangan’, Silchar, a renowned institute of arts and crafts has organised an online art competition. Initially, the last date for participating in the competition was 30 April, but later on demand from many participants, the date was extended till 31 May. A large number of participants sent their entries through e-mail. Shilpangan organised this online art competition in collaboration with Art Echo, while way2barak was the media partner. Finally, Shipangan announced the results of this national level art competition.

1. Subhom Esh, SILCHAR, Assam: First
2. Sudhendu Barbhuiya, SILCHAR, Assam: Second
3. Raj Sarkar, SILCHAR, Assam: Silchar: Third

150 participants from all over the country and abroad including Bangladesh, Maharashtra, Delhi, Tripura, Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh and Assam took part in this mega event. The following were the jury members:

  • Dheeraj Yadav, Allahabad, Artists in-residence, Rashtrapati Bhavan, India, 2017
  • Anil Bodwal, New Delhi, National Award-Lalit Kala, 2017.

Speaking to way2barak, Principal of Shilpangan, Sandipan Dutta Purkayastha said, “The name of the winners of this national level art competition was announced in way2barak.com. I would take this opportunity to thank all those who have participated in this contest. The jury members took special care to evaluate the entries and for this I thank them from the core of my heart. I wish that all of you stay safe in this pandemic situation and go on with your creative works.”

Shilpangan by organising such an online competition during the pandemic has provided space to the budding artists to showcase their talents and keep the young minds refreshed during the lockdown phase.
