Shah dials all CMs, asks them to ensure no Pakistani stays in India
way2barak, April 25: Union home minister Amit Shah telephoned all state chief ministers on Friday, instructing them to verify that Pakistani citizens depart India by the specified deadline, according to sources.
Following the deadly Pahalgam terror incident on Tuesday that claimed 26 lives, predominantly tourists, India announced on April 27 the cancellation of all visas granted to Pakistani nationals and urged Indian citizens in Pakistan to return promptly.
Sources indicate that the home minister directly contacted each state’s chief minister, emphasising the importance of enforcing the departure deadline for Pakistani nationals.
The chief ministers received instructions to locate Pakistani citizens within their jurisdictions and facilitate their deportation, as per sources.
The visa cancellation policy maintains an exception for Hindu Pakistani nationals holding long-term visas, which continue to remain valid.
In response to the Pahalgam attack’s cross-border connections, which marks the most severe civilian-targeted terror incident since the 26/11 Mumbai attacks, India implemented an immediate suspension of visa services for Pakistani nationals.
