‘Service To Mankind’ felicitates 40 teams of 102 & 108 for their service to Covid patients
July 29: The 1st wave and the 2nd wave of coronavirus have witnessed how Covid-19 infected patients were provided service by the 102 and 108 ambulances. In entire Barak Valley, there are a total of 40 units of 102 and 108 ambulance service. Each unit comprises of 3 members. On Thursday, social organisation “Service To Mankind” felicitated all the 40 units of these ambulance services. One member each from these units recived a memento as a token of appreciation for their dedicated service accepting immense risks and challenges.
The 102 and 108 ambulance drivers came forward to receive the recognition in return of their services in a simple programme organised by “Service To Mankind” at ISBT complex, Ramnagar. At the outset, the organisers, 2 minutes silence was observed as a mark of tribute to the Assam Police personnel who recently lost their lives at Assam Mizoram border while protecting the constitutional territory of Assam.
The felicitation programme was graced by former Silchar Municipality Chairperson Tamal Kanti Banik, former ward commissioner Atanu Bhattacharjee, General Secretary of Young Brigade- Rajat Kanti Kar along with the members of the host organisation.
Speaking during the occasion, Tamal Kanti Banik said, “I really appreciate from the bottom of my heart the service you are rendering to the people. You have saved many a lives till now. I know that your services has not been yet regularised. I had a talk with your union in this regard earlier. I do hope that the present government will definitely realise the importance of your service and make your job permanent soon.”
