Serve people like serving God : Governor Laxman Prasad

way2barak, August 23:–“Jeebe prem kore jei jon, se sebiche Ishwar , one who loves humanity serves God,” Assam Governor Laxman Prasad Acharya told district officials on Saturday, urging them to view governance as a sacred responsibility and deliver services with a people-centric approach.

Chairing a high-level review meeting with heads of departments and the district administration at the Conference Hall of the District Commissioner’s Office in Silchar, the Governor stressed that officials should take their tasks holistically so that the common people receive the maximum benefit of every initiative. “Remember, the chair you hold is a position of trust. Use your authority to make a difference that touches lives,” he said.

Quoting Swami Vivekananda’s philosophy, the Governor said: “This thought inspires us to work for society selflessly. If every official internalizes this principle, governance will truly serve its purpose.”

Acknowledging the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Governor Acharya said: “The Prime Minister is a true leader of the nation and the world. His reforms and development strategies have changed the face of governance and uplifted millions. We must align our actions with his vision for inclusive growth.”

Governor Acharya emphasized the need for a stronger fight against substance abuse under Nasha Mukti Abhiyan, urging officials to intensify awareness programs at the grassroots. He called for introducing yoga sessions in schools to promote mental and physical well-being among students and encouraged greater participation in NCC and NSS activities for developing discipline, patriotism, and leadership among the youth.

The Governor also highlighted the significance of the statewide plantation drive “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” under the Amrit Brikshya Andolan. “Planting a tree in the name of our mother is an act of love and responsibility. It reflects our commitment to nature and future generations,” he mentioned, urging officials to actively support the initiative.

Earlier, Cachar District Commissioner Mridul Yadav delivered the welcome address and presented a comprehensive report on the district’s development progress, including flagship schemes and infrastructure projects.

During the review, the Governor examined the status of Amrit Sarovar projects, instructing officials to ensure proper facilities like flagpoles, seating arrangements, and shades at the sites. Calling Cachar a district with immense potential for fisheries, he directed the concerned department to improve hatchery facilities and fish seed availability to enhance production.

On the health front, Governor Laxman Prasad Acharya lauded the successful implementation of the Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Pariyojana (PMBJP) and urged officials to popularize Jan Aushadhi stores to ensure affordable medicines for all. He also reviewed the TB Mukt Abhiyan, asking stakeholders to intensify the Nikshay Mitra initiative for a tuberculosis-free Assam.

In the education sector, the Governor underlined the importance of strengthening the learning environment and ensuring that every child continues their education without interruption.

Concluding his address, Governor Acharya delivered a powerful message:

“You all have a chair, power, and position. By virtue of that position, you can serve people with a people-centric approach. If society develops, your state will prosper, and your country will prosper.”

peaking to the media after the meeting, Governor Acharya expressed satisfaction over the pace of development in Cachar district. “I am pleased with the proactive efforts of the district administration and the sincerity of officials in implementing welfare schemes. This commitment will accelerate development and ensure benefits reach the last mile,” he said. He assured full cooperation from Raj Bhavan for timely and quality execution of all projects.

Later in the evening, the Governor chaired a security review meeting with Cachar’s Senior Superintendent of Police Numal Mahatta and the security personnel and assessed the law-and-order situation in Cachar.

Meanwhile,On Sunday morning, Governor Laxman Prasad Acharya will visit Ramakrishna Mission at 9:35 AM, followed by his visit to Red Cross Children’s Hospital at 10:10 AM, before leaving for Guwahati in the afternoon, marking the end of his two-day official tour of Silchar.
