Section 144 CrPC clamped in Hailakandi district
May 1: Section 144 CrPC has been clamped in entire Hailakandi district following rise in COVID-19 positive cases with immediate effect. Issuing an order to this effect here on Friday, District Magistrate, Megh Nidhi Dahal stated that prohibitory order banning and restraining has been done to prevent community transmission of COVID-19 and to maintain law and order.
The order prohibited gatherings, taking out of procession, rallies, meetings, dharna in front of counting venue or any other public places, and indulging in any other activity which may disturb public peace and tranquility.
Movement of individuals, groups, organisations, clubs and others in the vicinity of counting venue is prohibited on the day of counting on Sunday.
Carrying of fire arms, weapons or explosive substance of any nature, bursting of fire crackers, sprinkling of coloured water or other toxic substances and inflammatory speeches, wall writing and postering have been banned. However, the order exempts essential service providers, law enforcing personnel and persons engaged in election duty, contesting candidates and their duly appointed agents from its purview.
