Section 144 CrPC clamped in Cachar
March 13: In view of Assembly Election, 2021 to all seven constituencies of Cachar District on 1 April, 2021, the District Magistrate Cachar has issued a number of prohibitions under Section 144 of the Indian Penal Code for speedy remedy and immediate prevention of disturbances of peace and tranquility in the conduct of election process.
Issuing a circular on Saturday, District Magistrate Cachar, Keerthi Jalli stated that no person or group are allowed to carry any weapons like lathi, lance, spears, dao or any other articles which can be used as a weapon of offence with immediate effect. No person is allowed to carry or use any bomb, crackers or any other materials which can produce sound or any chemical effects.
She further stated that no person or group of people is allowed to carry toy gun ,toy pistol and revolver. Further, movement of individual or group or organisation, club, society members and others are prohibited in the vicinity of the polling stations where his or her or their name(s) is enlisted in voter’s list either on foot or four wheeler, two wheeler, three wheelers on the day of polling.
In addition to that no person is allowed to use any apparatus which is capable of producing any sound or reproducing human voice like tape recorders etc on the day of polling.
