Scary! 22 earthquakes rock Assam within 36 hours including strongest in last 60 years

April 30: In a shocking revelation, as many as 22 earthquakes of multiple magnitudes hit Assam within the last 36 hours. This was revealed as per the data offered by the National Centre for Seismology (NCS). A 6.4 magnitude earthquake had hit Assam at 7.51 AM on Wednesday. The quake resulted in huge loss in various parts of Assam. Two persons reportedly died of shock following the jolts.

The 6.4 magnitude earthquake was the strongest one witnessed in Assam since a 6.0 magnitude earthquake in 1960. As per data of NCS, the other 21 earthquakes were in the range of 2.3 to 4.7 on the Richter Scale. The last earthquake occurred at 1.08 AM on 30 April of 2.8 magnitude.
