শ্যামানন্দে ধরনায় বসতেই তাড়িয়ে দিল বলিপন্থীরা
‘Satyagrahi’ against animal sacrifice driven away from Shyamananda Ashram

১৮ অক্টোবর : পূর্ব ঘোষণা অনুযায়ী পশুবলির বিরুদ্ধে ধর্ণায় বসে তা চালিয়ে যেতে পারলেন না এনআইটি পড়ুয়া কল্পর্নাব গুপ্ত। উলটে বলিপন্থীদের রক্তচক্ষু ও প্রতিরোধের মুখে পড়তে হয়েছে তাঁকে। এ নিয়ে নবমী পুজোর দুপুরে উত্তেজনা ছড়ায় শিলচর পাবলিক স্কুল রোডে থাকা শ্যামানন্দ আশ্রম চত্বরে।

শিলচর এনআইটির মেকানিক্যাল ইঞ্জিনিয়ারিংয়ের ছাত্র কল্পর্নাব সপ্তমীর দুপুরেও একইভাবে পশুবলির বিরুদ্ধে উধারবন্দ কাঁচাকান্তি মন্দিরের সামনে ধর্নায় বসেছিলেন। বেলা ১১টা থেকে বিকেল ৩টা পর্যন্ত তিনি ধর্না চালিয়ে গেলেও বড়মাপের প্রতিরোধ আসেনি। নিজের বক্তব্য ও চিন্তাভাবনা একটি কাগজে ছাপিয়ে তা বিলিও করেন। ওই কাগজেই লেখা ছিল, নবমীর দুপুরেও একইভাবে তিনি শ্যামানন্দ আশ্রমের সামনে ধর্নায় বসবেন।

কিন্তু কল্পর্নাব শ্যামানন্দ আশ্রমের বাইরে রাস্তার পাশে ধর্নায় বসতেই চিত্র ক্রমশ বদলাতে থাকে। কিছু মানুষ সরাসরি প্রতিবাদ করেন। আবার কেউ কেউ পরোক্ষে তাঁকে গালমন্দ করতে থাকেন। একসময় কয়েকজন ধর্নারত কল্পর্নাবকে হুমকি পর্যন্ত দেন। প্রত্যক্ষদর্শীরা জানান, এনআইটির ছাত্রটি যখন বসেছিল, তখনই হঠাত করে আশ্রমের ভেতর থেকে ৮-১০ জন মারমুখী হয়ে বেরিয়ে আসেন বাইরে। তাদের গায়ে রক্তের দাগ দেখে পরিষ্কার বোঝা যাচ্ছিল, তারা পশুবলি দেওয়ার ঠিক পরেই এখানে এসেছেন। রক্তচক্ষু দেখিয়ে তারা আন্দোলনকারীকে সেখান থেকে চলে যেতে বলেন। ততক্ষণে সেখানে সাধারণ মানুষও জড়ো হতে থাকেন। চলে তাঁকে লক্ষ্য করে তীব্র বাক্যবাণ। কয়েকজন কল্পর্নাবের সঙ্গে বচসায় জড়িয়ে পড়েন। এভাবে সম্মিলিত প্রতিরোধের সামনে খুব বেশি সময় তিনি ধর্না চালিয়ে যেতে পারেননি।

এরপরও ১ ঘণ্টার মতো ধর্না চালিয়ে গেছেন কল্পর্নাব। পরিস্থিতি কিছুটা উত্তেজনাকর হয়ে উঠলে তিনি নিজে ও তার সঙ্গে আসা অন্য কয়েকজন নিরাপত্তার অভাব বোধ করেন। ফলে এর কিছুক্ষণ পর তিনি চলে যান। অন্যদিকে কল্পর্নাব বৃহস্পতিবারও একইভাবে তাঁর আন্দোলনের পক্ষে মতামত তুলে ধরেছেন।

ওয়ে টু বরাক প্রতিনিধির সঙ্গে কথা বলতে গিয়ে কল্পর্নাব জানিয়েছেন, পশুবলি একটি বর্বর, অমানবিক ও আদিম প্রথা। নিজের উদরপূর্তির জন্য ধর্মের নাম দিয়ে হত্যাকে প্রশ্রয় দেওয়া হয়। গৌতম বুদ্ধ, শঙ্করাচার্য থেকে শ্রীচৈতন্য মহাপ্রভু, যুগ যুগ ধরে মনিষীরা এই কুপ্রথার বিরোধিতা করে এসেছেন। তিনি আরও বলেছেন, এই প্রথার মাধ্যমে অনন্ত প্রেমময় ঈশ্বরকে মাংসলুব্ধ দানবে রূপান্তরিত করা হচ্ছে। নিজের জাগতিক আশা আকাঙ্খা পূরণে এটি ঈশ্বরকে উৎকোচ দেওয়ার নামান্তর বলেও তিনি উল্লেখ করেছেন।

ব্রহ্মবৈবর্ত পুরাণে কলিকালে পশুবলি নিষিদ্ধ থাকার কথা উল্লেখ করে কল্পর্নাব বলেন, মন্দিরে পশুবলির জন্য শিশুদের মনেও এর বিরূপ প্রভাব পড়ে। পাশাপাশি তিনি একটি বিষয়ও উল্লেখ করেন যে, তিনি মাংস খাওয়ার বিরোধিতা করছেন না, কিন্তু এতে ধর্মের নামাবলি চড়ানোর পক্ষে মোটেই নন।

October 18: He declared on the day of Maha Saptami that he will sit on dharna in front of Shyamananda Ashram on the day of Maha Navami as a mark of protest against the inhuman practice of animal sacrifice. But as expected, he was not allowed to continue his satyagraha for long. Kalpnarvh a student of Mechanical Engineering at National Institute of Technology (NIT), Silchar had to face the wrath of the supporters of animal sacrifice. This led to a tensed atmosphere for some time in the surroundings of Shyamananda Ashram at Public School Road.

Kalpnarvh sat in demonstration near the gate of Kachakanti temple at Udharbond on the day of Maha Saptami. He sat there displaying a banner and distributing pamphlets in support of his cause from 11 in the morning till 3 in the afternoon. Today also, he sat in front of Shyamananda Ashram, Silchar displaying a banner and distributing leaflets.

But things did not remain peaceful for long time. Very soon the fangs of the so-called civilized society encircled Kalpnarvh. Eye witnesses revealed that all of a sudden, 10 to 12 persons from inside the Ashram came out and raised their voice against him. The blood stains on the dress of those persons revealed that they have just come out from the spot of animal sacrifice. Soon rationality gave way to animality. The activist was threatened to leave the spot at once. They accused him of trying to achieve cheap popularity. Sensing danger and unable to sustain the pressure, Kalpnarvh left from the spot at once. Even 71 years after independence, India has failed to attain freedom from superstitions and inhuman practices.

Before being driven away, Kalpnarvh sat in dharna for around an hour. Speaking to way2barak, Kalpanarvh Gupta, son of Colonel Satyajit Gupta said that there is cruelty and barbarity behind the tradition of animal sacrifice. He courageously told that people with vested interest are carrying on this inhuman practice since ages hiding behind the garb of religion. Religious preachers like, Gautama Budhha, Sankaracharya, Chaitanya Mahapravhu have also objected against this inhuman practice. He further said that God who is worshipped in the name of ‘Mother’ is being insulted by sacrificing Her own creation before Her in order to appease Her. He said that a Mother can never be happy if her child is sacrificed in front of her.

He quoted Brahma Vaivarta Purana and argued that animal sacrifice has been denied in Kali Yuga. He also upheld the negative influence this practice impresses upon the mind of little children. He made it clear that his satyagraha was not against meat-eating, but rather urged to separate this evil practice from the religious rituals. He confidently said that religion is something which is pure and this purity should not be diluted by mixing such inhuman rituals like animal sacrifice.
