Sanskrit Tols in Assam to now replace as institutions to teach Indian culture & civilisation
Dec. 14: In a significant move, the Assam State Cabinet has taken a decision on Sunday that the State Madrassa Board & State Sanskrit Board shall stand dissolved from the declaration of the result of examination to be held in 2021-22. This will have its impact on 141 high madrasas, 542 madrasas and 97 Sanskrit tols in the state.
Elaborating the move, State Education Minister, Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma while addressing the media at Janata Bhawan in Guwahati on Monday said that the State Sanskrit Board, which regulates the Sanskrit tols would get dissolved. The minister said, “The Sanskrit tols will now be placed under Kumar Bhaskar Varma Sanskrit & Ancient Studies University and will offer diploma and degree courses on Indian culture and civilisation.” He further claimed that Assam will be the first state in India to launch a course on Indian culture & civilisation.
