Sale & distribution of pork prohibited in Assam until further orders
April 25: The Assam Animal Husbandry and Veterinary department announcing a strict ban on sale of pigs and pork. As per reports, samples of affected pigs have been sent to the National Institute of High-Security Animal Diseases (NIHSAD), Bhopal for the detection of Swine Flu.
Assam Agriculture and Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Minister Atul Bora said in Guwahati that said that till further notice the sale and distribution of pork is prohibited in the state. As many as 1,964 pigs have so far died from what is being ascribed to as swine fever in several eastern Assam districts.
