Routine immunisation programme resumed in Assam

April 15: Due to the sudden outbreak of COVID-19, routine immunisation programme was suspended for a brief period of time. However, on Wednesday, the routine immunisation programme was resumed in the state of Assam. The state has resolved to ensure that no child in Assam is deprived of immunisation. The state Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma praised the health workers and wrote, “Kudos to our ANMs and ASHAs who resumed this activity following due diligence.”

Taking to his twitter handle, the minister of health wrote, “Routine immunisation suspended for brief period due to COVID—19 has started today across the state in our health centres.We will ensure that no child in the state is deprived of immunisation support. Kudos to our ANMs and ASHAs who resumed this activity following due diligence.”
