Rotary Club of Silchar donates sanitary napkin vending machine & incinerator at Radhamadhab College

Jan. 8: Rotary Club of Silchar as part of their Menstrual Hygiene Management Project donated a sanitary napkin vending machine along with a incinerator for the female students of Radhamadhab College, Silchar. On Friday, the Rotarians were welcomed by the teachers and students in the college premises. Later on, in their presence, both the sanitary napkin vending machine and the incinerator were installed in the girls common room of the college.

Tapash Kumar Roy, President of Rotary Club of Silchar highlighted about the activities of their club, aim of Project Menstrual Hygiene Management and also about the significance of the sanitary napkin vending machine and incinerator. He said that the installation of the machines would lead them towards the path of a better personal hygiene.

He said that the Sanitary Napkin Incinerator disposes napkins in an environment friendly method by burning the pads and converting it into ash. In short, it destroys solid sanitary napkins hygienically. Rtn. Sibabrata Dutta, Service Project Director and Rtn. Shankar Deb were also present during the occasion.

The programme came to an end with the vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Ashima Roy, Vice Principal of Radhamadhab College, Silchar. Dr. Roy thanked the members of Rotary Club of Silchar for donating both the machines for the female students of the college. Also present there were Arundhuti Dutta Choudhury, Head, Department of English, Dr. Ruma Nath Choudhury- Head, Deptt of Philosophy, Dr. Piya Das, Dr. Sonali Choudhury- Librarian, other teachers Dr. Sumita Bose, Anusakha Chakraborty, Ananya Bhattacharjee apart from a host of students.

It needs mention here that in 2020, Silchar Inner Wheel Club also donated a sanitary napkin vending machine for the girl students of Radhamadhab College.
