Rivers in Karimganj flowing above the danger level
June 17: Due to torrential rainfall since the last few days, the water level of the rivers in the state has started to rise. In Barak Valley too, a similar phenomenon was observed. As per report received from Assam Water Resource Department, river Barak at Annapurna Ghat, Silchar at 10 PM on Friday, was flowing below the danger level and was recorded at 19.42 metres. The danger level at this point is 19.83 metre. The water level is increasing at 3 cm per hour.
In Karimganj too, the rivers were flowing above the danger level. DDMA, Karimganj in a release stated that at 8 PM on 17 June, 2022, the water level of three rivers have already crossed the danger level, while one river is just 21 cm below the danger level.
- River Kushiyara at Lime Factory, Karimganj was flowing at 15.34 mt. The danger level here is marked at 14.94 mt. Trend: Increasing.
- River Longai at Chandkhira PWD Bridge was flowing at 22.18 mt. The danger level here is marked at 22.00 mt. Trend: Increasing.
- River Singla at Anipur PWD Bridge was flowing at 19.965 mt. The danger level here is marked at 17.985 mt. Trend: Increasing.
- River Barak at Badarpur Ghat was flowing at 16.68 mt. The danger level here is marked at 16.89 mt. Trend: Increasing.
