Rise in positive cases in Cachar: DC Cachar inspects site for new Covid Care Centre
28 July: The number of novel coronavirus cases in Cachar district along with the rest of Assam are increasing by leaps and bounds. On Tuesday, a total of 90 persons were detected as COVID-19 positive in the district. With this, Cachar registered a total of 1405 positive cases as of now, out of which, around 800 of them are active. Now, the increasing number of positive cases has necessitated the increase of more Covid Care Centres in the district.
As the number of positive cases are increasing rapidly in Cachar, the district health department has decided to increase the bed capacity in various hospitals and Covid Care Centres. Further, Covid patients are now also kept at NATRIP in Jhapirbond. Positive asymptomatic patients are admitted at Foreigners’ Tribunal and Cibitabichia Model Hospital, Palonghat Model Hospital, Borkhola Degree College, SM Dev Civil Hospital. However, the symptomatic patients were admitted at Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH). During the routine press briefing on Tuesday, District Media Expert Suman Choudhury stated that the health department is contemplating to increase 6000 more beds for asymptomatic patients.
On Tuesday, Deputy Commissioner, Keerthi Jalli along with ADC (Health) Sumit Sattawan visited proposed Covid Care Centres to see arrangements that can be taken to accommodate the rising cases. DC Jalli visited Nehru College, Pailapool and took stock of the various facilities available therein to convert it into a Covid Care Centre to house the asymptomatic patients. Such a proactive step is indeed the need of the hour, which would help the administration in providing treatment to the fresh batches of coronavirus cases.
